All the benefits of Green Tea in a smooth, creamy drink

Green Tea Smoothie

The usual bitterness of green tea is balanced out in this keto friendly Green Tea Smoothie from Key For Keto.

I love drinking tea, it is one of hobbies. I love discovering new tea blends from the Orient, however one tea which I simply can not stomach is green tea. I have tried so many different brands and blends, and brewing times yet I always end up grimacing as I sip the tea due to the bitterness. So, of course, I was apprehensive about this smoothie. After blending the ingredients it was a creamy drink and the only flavor I could taste was the vanilla and cream. In the end, a smoothie I was nervous about, tasted just like a vanilla milkshake.

The history of green tea

Legend has it that the first green tea was discovered by a Chinese emperor in 2737 B.C. He tried to improve his health by drinking water boiled with leaves from a wild shrub or tree, and this is believed to be green tea. The benefits of drinking green tea have been touted for centuries, and many people believe that it not only improves mental alertness but can help you stay healthy. The tea is also praised for its antioxidant properties, which can protect against cell damage from free radicals in the body. Additionally, green tea seems to help with weight loss by increasing metabolism.

Adding coconut oil
Adding coconut oil

Blog useful – why is coconut oil solid?

Coconut oil is an edible oil which comes from the milk, the meat and the wick of the coconut.  While it appears as a white solid fat, in warmer countries it becomes a thin clear liquid oil as it melts a room temperatures of around 78 °F. The less refine the variety is, the more the oil smells like coconut fruit. Coconut has high levels of fat which makes its a good food for a keto diet to cook with or added raw to smoothies.

What we think

“This smoothie was geniunely delicious and creamy, however next time I will use less protein powder as I could still taste the texture of the powder, and its for this reason that I give the smoothie recipe 3 stars out of 5. To improve the recipe, I would add only half of the recommended protein powder next time”
