Pouring a Mean Green Smoothie
Mean Green Smoothie

This smoothie filled with kale, spinach, and Swiss chard provides nutrients which are all necessary as part of a keto diet.

Green foods are full of nutrients that help protect our bodies from disease and promote overall health. They contain high amounts of energy-boosting vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. Green foods also have anti-inflammatory properties which can reduce inflammation in the body caused by stress or environmental toxins. Additionally, they are an excellent source of protein, which helps build muscle and keep us feeling full for longer periods of time. Eating green foods on a regular basis can help maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and improve overall health. With so many benefits to offer, it’s easy to see why green foods have become an important part of a balanced diet.

Three cheers for Chia seeds

Chia seeds are so versatile, they can be blended or sprinkled on top of smoothies, both methods mean you get the super nutrients, protein and fiber as well as the healthy omega-3 fatty acids. They taste of nothing really however they would be difficult to eat alone as I imagine they would end up stuck in your teeth which would be more annoying than nourishing. I wonder whether you could make a good body scrub out of them, I am sure the oils from them would be amazing on the skin.

What we think

I could not find Swiss chard in my local store so I doubled up on the spinach which worked just fine. I also added an extra 1/2 cup of water as there did not appear to be enough liquid for the solids. The coconut comes through as the leading flavor, followed quickly by the kale and spinach. The texture is slightly watery perhaps because I added the extra 1/2 cup but I really felt it need it during the blending process. A 4 out of 5, I preferred the Super Food Green Smoothie, what did you think?
