This recipe was super easy, it made 12 bombs and kept really well in the fridge to eat cold on a picnic. It was the bomb, and should not make me fat!

With this recipe, I combined all the powders and seasoning with the meat. I used an amount “to taste” however I could have increased this to perhaps a tablespoon of onion powder and a tablespoon of garlic powder. I split the meat into three parts, one for the base, one for the middle and one for the lid. Each of the three balls then split down into 12 to fill my muffin tin. The bottom layer is the most important so you ensure that you have the base fully covered so that the filling does not leak out the bottom. I cut my butter and cheese into cubes which worked really well and looked rather neat. I did reserve the liquid which I will probably use on some roasted vegetables at another time.

What is a fat bomb and why are they so popular?

Fat bombs have become an increasingly popular part of the keto diet, due to their ability to provide a concentrated source of essential fats. Fat bombs are typically made with high-fat ingredients such as coconut oil, butter, cream cheese, or nut butters. They can also include other flavorings and ingredients like nuts, seeds, spices, chocolate, and more. Fat bombs can provide a quick and easy energy boost, offering a convenient way to get the required amount of healthy fats without having to consume large amounts of food. Additionally, they can also help satisfy cravings for sweet treats, while still being keto-friendly. Fat bombs are an ideal snack or treat for those following a ketogenic diet, as they can help to boost energy levels and keep hunger at bay while still helping to maintain ketosis. With their portability and convenience, fat bombs are a great way to stay on track with the keto diet. They provide an easy way to get the right ratio of macronutrients for optimal health results. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack on the go or a tasty treat to satisfy your sweet tooth, fat bombs are an excellent choice.

What is protein and why is meat and dairy so high in protein?

Protein is an essential macronutrient that plays a crucial role in how our bodies function. It helps build muscles, repair cells and create hormones. Protein is found in many different food sources including meat, dairy, vegetables and legumes. When it comes to carbohydrates like potatoes, rice and pasta, they contain very little protein compared to other sources. This is because carbohydrates are primarily made up of starches, which do not contain the amino acids that make up protein molecules. However, these foods can still be part of a well-balanced diet since they provide energy and other important vitamins and minerals. Ultimately, many people turn to animal proteins like meat and dairy for their daily protein intake.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 oz cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Onion powder to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine ground beef with your desired amount of salt and pepper.
  3. Press a small amount of beef (about 1 tbsp) into the bottom of a non-stick, 12-slot muffin pan so the bottom is fully covered.
  4. Add a pat of butter to the top of each piece of beef. Again add beef to the top. Press to flatten.
  5. Add a small piece of cheese to the beef.
  6. Add a final layer of beef. (It’s okay if you don’t have quite enough beef left to fully cover the top of the cheese.) Press to flatten.
  7. Place the muffin pan in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  8. When the baking is complete, turn OFF the oven and crack the oven door for a few minutes to release the heat (if using a silicone muffin pan, wait 10 minutes).
  9. Please be VERY CAREFUL before removing your muffin pan from oven because the fat from the beef and butter will be very hot.
  10. Using a fork, remove each Butter Burger from the pan and place on a plate. (Note: Your burgers should be cooked through; if they’re not, return them to the oven for a few minutes.)
  11. There will be a delicious beef fat/butter combo remaining in the muffin pan. Save this and use it to drizzle on your Butter Burgers, cook veggies, etc.

What we think

“This recipe took no time at all to prepare and cook. Really simple and easy, and a great addition to any keto diet. We got all the portion sizes right for this one and ended up with all 12 fat bombs. I would say use the onion and garlic powder to taste. Even having added these the meat was still a smidge ‘meaty’ tasting. Next time I will try adding in Italian seasoning to the meat to a get a lovely fragrant flavor. The cheese and butter in the middle add great flavor and texture, while maintaining a soft and moist finish to the dish. This I rated 4 out of 5 stars.”
